Our Values
Homelessness in Edmonton is a serious and growing concern, and unfortunately, it often comes with harmful stereotypes. Too many people assume those without housing are defined by theft or crime, when in reality, each person carries a story, often of resilience, not wrongdoing.
In July (2025), I was completing a large junk removal job at a commercial site when I met two men (Mason on the left, and TJ on the right) who offered to help. Both were facing incredibly challenging life situations, living without the security of a stable home. Despite their hardships, they showed up with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine willingness to contribute. Together, we managed to load two full trailer loads! They were respectful, humble, and incredibly helpful, a perfect example that character has nothing to do with status. At the end of the day, it wasn’t about the work; it was about the feeling they had knowing they were treated with respect and dignity.
This experience reminded me how important it is to never take anything for granted, whether it’s a place to call home, a sense of stability, or simply being given a second chance. These men didn’t just help with physical labour; they reminded me of the power of trust and compassion. Everyone has value and deserves the opportunity to shine, and when we lead with understanding instead of judgment, we begin to see the person for who they truly are, not just their situation.
